Job Title: NMS Resident Engineer

Job Description:

The NMS Resident Engineer plays a critical role in supporting the customer's network infrastructure by delivering a wide range of professional services. These include network strategy, design, engineering, implementation and migration planning, service design, proof of concept, testing, optimization, customer training, and ongoing support. The role primarily involves remote support for customers.

As a Resident Engineer, you will work in a consultative capacity with customers, as well as collaborate with internal solutions teams, marketing groups, and systems engineering to scope and deliver professional services. Responsibilities include:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support network architecture and service designs aligned with customer requirements.
  • Develop network implementation and migration scripts and plans.
  • Create network management strategies tailored to customer needs.
  • Evaluate customer networks for performance, scalability, manageability, and security.
  • Configure network equipment and services.
  • Test and support networks at various deployment stages.
  • Create and review technical documentation, including Method of Procedure (MOP) and Statement of Work (SOW).
  • Deliver knowledge transfer sessions and ad-hoc customer training.
  • Conduct network audits and assessments against service requirements and industry best practices.
  • Provide recommendations to optimize network operations and performance.
  • Collaborate with internal teams for product positioning and feature enhancements to improve reliability, availability, and serviceability.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customer technical and management teams.
  • Support critical network events during maintenance windows, including after-hours work as needed.

We are looking for an experienced, customer-facing engineer with hands-on expertise in administering and operating network management systems (NMS). A strong focus on automation and a desire to help customers advance their operational capabilities is essential.

Qualifications:

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with a telecommunications equipment vendor or service provider, configuring, monitoring, and troubleshooting IP/MPLS networks using protocols such as OSPF, IS-IS, BGP, and MPLS, as well as L2/L3 VPNs over MPLS.
  • At least 3 years of experience administering and operating network management systems.
  • 3+ years of experience in Linux administration (Red Hat / CentOS).
  • 3+ years of experience operating and troubleshooting software applications in virtualized environments.
  • 3+ years of experience with automation and OSS integration.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to communicate effectively with end customers.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Professional certifications such as Cisco CCIE, Nokia SRA, and/or Juniper JNCIE are preferred.
