Overview & Role Focus
This role is centered on innovating and advancing state-of-the-art video processing and transport capabilities, delivering high-performance solutions on some of the most integrated poadcast hardware platforms available today. The successful candidate will work hands-on with FPGA design, real-time media interfaces, and poadcast protocol implementation, playing a key role across architecture, development, testing, and cross-functional support.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and continuous improvement of advanced video transport and processing features within tightly integrated poadcast hardware.
- Design RTL for real-time, high-throughput media systems involving advanced interfaces—such as PCIe, memory, and specialized hardware acceleration (e.g., video scaling, HDR/SDR conversion).
- Implement FPGA-based real-time transport protocols like SMPTE 2110 and SDI.
- Participate in architectural planning: advise on FPGA density, schematic reviews, clocking strategies, and thermal considerations.
- Build complete IO ring designs across modern FPGAs (Arria10, Stratix-10, Ultrascale+, MPSoC, Agilex) and validate pin-outs/IP within Quartus and Vivado environments.
- Define and negotiate high-level design specs, assist in part selection, and align with aggressive project timelines.
- Contribute to design specifications and documentation used by cross-functional teams.
- Collaborate closely with peers on design verification and testing of FPGA and hardware systems.
- Tackle debugging with a methodical and efficient approach.
- Support team members throughout the entire New Product Introduction (NPI) lifecycle—from design through manufacturing to customer support.
Required Skills & Background
- 5+ years in FPGA and hardware development, with a strong preference for experience in video/audio-centric technologies.
- Intermediate to senior-level expertise in FPGA architecture and core components.
- Deep understanding of high-speed serial interfaces, clock domains, timing closure, and transceiver integration.
- Proficiency in Verilog, SystemVerilog, and TCL scripting; capable of creating testbenches and running simulations (e.g., VCS).
- Familiarity with modern Intel and Xilinx FPGA families and their development/debugging toolchains.
- Hands-on experience with interfaces like DDR3/DDR4, HBM, PLLs, and gigabit transceivers.
- Skilled in lab-based debugging using oscilloscopes, JBERTs, network analyzers, waveform monitors, etc.
- Embedded system awareness—experience with Linux, C/C++, bash scripting, and networking considered valuable.
- Broadcast studio domain knowledge is highly desirable, especially within video production and distribution workflows.
- A strong grasp of digital video/audio standards and signal integrity is considered a plus.
- Driven and independent, yet collaborative—equally adept at working solo or influencing poader team strategies.
- Quick learner with a creative mindset and ability to push ideas from concept to market.
- Comfortable making bold decisions that balance quality, speed, and cost for optimal business outcomes.
- Effective communicator with sharp observational skills and a problem-solving mindset.
