Main Responsibilities of the role:

Configuration Identification

  • Support and coordinate activities to establish rules for configuration item (CI) selection and baseline content definition.

  • Assist in selecting configuration items at appropriate levels of the product structure, including determining required configuration documentation for each CI.

Asset and Physical Systems Configuration Management

  • Define, develop, and manage processes, procedures, and tools to identify, document, and control physical assets for a large-scale communications system.

  • Provide support for export control compliance processes such as ITAR.

  • Maintain an inventory of system assets (hardware).

  • Control and document system, hardware, and software configurations, including both “as-designed” and “as-built” baselines.

Software Configuration Management – Release Monitoring

  • Collaborate with technical teams and project management to define roles and responsibilities for configuration and release management.

  • Work with development, test environment, and verification teams to define and document processes for managing software releases.

  • For each release, verify required documentation is complete, approved, and captured, and ensure release packages are created in accordance with established procedures.

  • Confirm that pending or outstanding changes do not impact planned test or release activities.

  • Support development, lab, and test teams to ensure timely and accurate release execution.

  • Assist with impact assessments and update the CI Tree and related configuration documentation to reflect approved changes.

  • Support preparation and execution of configuration item status accounting and configuration audits.

  • Provide subject matter expertise on configuration management (CM) processes, standards, and systems.

  • Contribute to requirements management and traceability process documentation and improvement.

  • Develop training materials for CM identification, software/release management, and general CM procedures.

  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance CM process efficiency, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.

Document and Library Management Support

  • Initiate updates to documentation based on approved change requests.

  • Collaborate with document management personnel to track and complete implementation of documentation updates.

  • Ensure all released documents are logged, captured, and statused in the document management system.

  • Act as backup support for document management responsibilities when needed.

Education & Experience – Required

  • Bachelor’s or college degree in engineering, science, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).

  • 3–6 years of experience in an engineering design environment working with systems, hardware, software, and test teams.

  • 2+ years of experience in configuration and/or data management.

  • 2+ years of experience in release management.

  • Formal training, certification, or experience with CM standards (e.g., CM2, ANSI-EIA 649, ISO 10007).

Education & Experience:

  • Experience with software configuration management tools and processes.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Experience in high-performing, multidisciplinary development teams.

  • Collaborative, team-oriented, and self-driven.

  • Skilled in Microsoft Office at an intermediate level.

  • Bilingual in English and French is an asset (but not required).
