Position Overview
We are seeking a strong Power BI Developer – Reporting for an immediate contract engagement supporting enterprise reporting and analytics initiatives.
This is a 100% remote opportunity ideally suited to an intermediate-level Power BI Developer who demonstrates senior-level ownership, independence, and delivery capability.
The position is heavily focused on Power BI reporting and dashboard development, representing approximately 90% of the role. This is not primarily an ETL or Data Engineering position.
The successful candidate will be a hands-on Power BI professional who can quickly understand business and reporting requirements, independently develop and enhance dashboards and reports, and deliver high-quality solutions in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, enhance, and maintain Power BI reports and dashboards.
- Translate business and reporting requirements into effective, intuitive, and user-friendly Power BI solutions.
- Build and optimize data models, measures, calculations, and visualizations.
- Develop and maintain DAX calculations and reporting logic.
- Utilize Power Query and multiple data sources to support reporting and analytics requirements.
- Enhance existing reports for performance, usability, accuracy, and scalability.
- Troubleshoot reporting, data-model, calculation, and performance issues.
- Work directly with business and technical stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver reporting solutions.
- Support testing, validation, deployment, and ongoing enhancement of Power BI solutions.
- Contribute to Microsoft Fabric initiatives where applicable and based on experience.
Required Qualifications
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Power BI development.
- Demonstrated experience developing enterprise reports, dashboards, and data visualizations.
- Strong knowledge of DAX, Power Query, data modelling, and Power BI reporting best practices.
- Experience translating business requirements into functional and effective reporting solutions.
- Ability to optimize Power BI reports and data models for performance and usability.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting capabilities.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and take ownership of assigned deliverables.
- Strong communication and stakeholder collaboration skills.
- Ability to become productive quickly within a 100% remote environment.
- Ideally an intermediate Power BI Developer operating with the maturity, independence, and accountability expected of a senior-level resource.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications
- Experience with Microsoft Fabric is a strong asset.
- Working or junior-level Fabric experience is welcome; candidates do not need to be Fabric specialists.
- Experience utilizing Microsoft Fabric capabilities alongside Power BI reporting and analytics.
- Broader experience across the Microsoft data and analytics ecosystem.
Role Focus
Approximately 90% of this engagement is focused on Power BI reporting, including:
- Dashboard and report development
- Data visualization
- DAX and reporting logic
- Data modelling
- Power Query
- Report optimization and performance
- Enhancements and ongoing reporting support
This position is intended for a Power BI reporting specialist, rather than a traditional ETL or Data Engineering profile.
Microsoft Fabric is a valuable bonus but is not a mandatory requirement. Candidates with Fabric exposure may have opportunities to utilize and further develop those skills during the engagement.
