Job Description:
We are seeking a Part-Time Somali Interpreter to facilitate effective communication between individuals who do not share the same language. The interpreter will provide language support for various settings, including employment, training, orientation, meetings, human resources, health services, and other operational activities as assigned. This role requires strict adherence to confidentiality.
Key responsibilities may include:
- Oral interpretation via phone, video, or live sessions
- Written translation of documents
- Voice recording for language support materials
- Reviewing and editing translated content
Qualifications:
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Certification in interpreting or translation is a plus
Experience & Skills:
- Must pass a translation assessment with an average total score of 90% or higher
- At least one year of experience in interpretation/translation, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in both English and Somali
- Familiarity with best practices in interpreting and translating, including strict confidentiality standards
- Experience using Microsoft Office and virtual meeting platforms (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, etc.) preferred

- Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively as part of a team
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Proactive and willing to seek clarification to ensure full understanding of assigned projects
- Reliable internet connection and basic computer and typing skills required
