Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Salesforce Developer for a 6-month contract engagement supporting an enterprise Salesforce environment.
The primary focus of this role is the design, development, testing, deployment, documentation and stabilization of a REST API integration between Adobe Marketo Engage and Salesforce. The consultant will also provide development-side support for User Acceptance Testing (UAT), regression testing, defect resolution and Salesforce platform enhancements.

This is a hands-on development position requiring strong expertise in Apex, Salesforce integrations, REST APIs, Lightning Web Components, Flow, Salesforce security, automated testing and enterprise Salesforce development frameworks.

All development will move through a formal Copado-managed DevOps pipeline with established release governance, approval gates and quality reviews.

Key Responsibilities

Salesforce & Marketo REST API Integration

• Analyze and confirm integration requirements with business and technical stakeholders, including objects, field mappings, synchronization direction, trigger conditions and expected data volumes.
• Design and develop a REST API integration between Adobe Marketo Engage and Salesforce.
• Define API interface contracts, endpoints, authentication, Named Credentials, request/response payloads, synchronization patterns and error-handling requirements.
• Develop Salesforce integration components using Apex, Named Credentials, External Services, Platform Events and Flow, as appropriate.
• Build secure, reusable and scalable Apex code using established Apex enterprise framework patterns.
• Implement governor-limit-aware solutions incorporating bulkification, asynchronous processing, callout limits, Queueable Apex, Batch Apex and Scheduled Apex.
• Develop robust error handling, retry logic, exception logging and operational alerting.
• Apply appropriate field-level and object-level security consistent with the Salesforce security and permission model.

Apex Development & Automated Testing

• Design and develop comprehensive Apex test classes for triggers, handlers, service classes, callout classes and asynchronous processing.
• Develop HTTP callout mocks, including HttpCalloutMock, MultiStaticResourceCalloutMock or equivalent approaches.
• Implement reusable test data factory patterns without reliance on SeeAllData.
• Test positive, negative, bulk, exception and governor-limit scenarios.
• Build meaningful System.assert validations that test actual expected outcomes rather than simply achieving code coverage.
• Maintain required Apex code coverage, with a minimum Salesforce platform threshold of 75% and potentially higher project-specific governance requirements.
• Ensure test suites execute successfully through the DevOps pipeline without negatively affecting organization-wide code coverage.

UAT, Regression Testing & Defect Resolution

• Provide development-side support for UAT, System Integration Testing (SIT) and regression testing.
• Prepare sandbox environments and test data required for testing cycles.
• Support the setup and maintenance of regression test assets, including automated regression tooling where applicable.
• Investigate, reproduce, triage and resolve defects identified during testing.
• Perform root-cause analysis using Salesforce debug logs, Apex exception logging, integration logs and Salesforce Event Monitoring, where available.
• Provide fixes and re-testing support and promote corrections through the established DevOps/release process.
• Document defects, diagnosis, root cause and resolutions.
• Identify and escalate issues originating outside Salesforce, including Marketo configuration, network or other third-party components.

DevOps, Release & Deployment

• Promote Salesforce components through a Copado-managed DevOps pipeline.
• Work within established release governance, approval gates and quality-control processes.
• Support deployment validation and production release activities.
• Ensure development complies with Salesforce development, security, architecture and coding standards.

Technical Documentation & Knowledge Transfer

Produce and maintain detailed technical documentation covering:

• Integration architecture and system context.
• Data flows and synchronization patterns.
• REST endpoints and interface specifications.
• Authentication and Named Credential configuration.
• Request/response schemas and payloads.
• Field-level mappings and transformation rules.
• Error handling, logging, alerting, retry and recovery procedures.
• Salesforce declarative and coded components.
• Apex testing strategy, test classes, mocks and coverage.
• Regression testing assets.
• Deployment and release procedures.
• Operational troubleshooting/runbook procedures.
• Knowledge transfer and handover to the internal Salesforce platform team.

MUST-HAVE Qualifications

Candidates must meet all of the following requirements:

• 8+ years of combined experience across IT, Business Analysis, Project Management and/or Salesforce Administration.
• 6+ years of hands-on experience as a Salesforce Developer.
• 2+ years of hands-on Salesforce Education Cloud experience.
  • Important: Education Cloud experience is required — Education Data Architecture (EDA) alone does not satisfy this requirement.
• 2+ years of hands-on experience using standard Apex enterprise frameworks.
• Strong hands-on Salesforce development experience with Apex, triggers, Lightning Web Components (LWC), Flow and integrations.
• Demonstrated experience designing and developing REST API integrations.
• Strong understanding of API authentication, Named Credentials, request/response payloads and integration patterns.
• Strong knowledge of Salesforce governor limits and development patterns including bulkification and asynchronous processing.
• Hands-on experience with Queueable, Batch and Scheduled Apex.
• Strong Apex unit-testing experience, including HTTP callout mocks, reusable test-data patterns and meaningful assertions.
• Strong knowledge of Salesforce security, including object-level security, field-level security, permission architecture and user management.
• Strong knowledge of Salesforce configuration capabilities including validations, formulas, workflows, Flow, approval processes and related platform functionality.
• Strong data-management experience using Data Loader, Workbench and/or ETL tooling.
• Strong Salesforce reporting experience.
• Experience re-engineering existing Salesforce configurations to improve workflow, reporting and functionality.
• Experience planning and implementing Salesforce system upgrades and customizations.
• Experience documenting CRM processes, policies, technical designs and procedures.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Post-secondary diploma or degree in Business, Computer Science or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.

MANDATORY Salesforce Certifications

Candidates must possess all of the following certification requirements:

1. Salesforce Certified Administrator – MANDATORY
2. Salesforce Certified Platform Developer I – MANDATORY
3. One of the following is MANDATORY:
   • Salesforce Certified JavaScript Developer I, OR
   • Salesforce Certified Platform Developer II

The successful consultant will deliver a stable, secure and supportable Salesforce integration while ensuring:

• Integration deliverables are completed within agreed timelines.
• Salesforce development follows established architecture, security and coding standards.
• Apex tests provide meaningful functional validation and satisfy required coverage thresholds.
• UAT and regression defects are diagnosed and resolved efficiently.
• Salesforce releases successfully pass established DevOps and quality gates.
• Technical and operational documentation is complete and usable.
• Knowledge is effectively transferred to the internal Salesforce team.
• The completed integration can be operated, troubleshot and extended by the internal platform team without ongoing dependency on the consultant.

Work Arrangement

This engagement offers flexibility for either hybrid or fully remote work within Ontario. Onsite presence in Ottawa or Pembroke is preferred where practical; however, fully remote/virtual engagement is approved and acceptable.

Candidates should be comfortable collaborating remotely with business stakeholders, system users, Salesforce platform specialists and technical teams, while providing regular updates on progress, risks, issues and deliverables.
