Seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to provide onsite engineering support for the development of advanced hardware platforms and optical communication products. The consultant will work under the direction of the Client’s engineering team and provide mechanical design, analysis, supplier collaboration, and product development support.

Scope of Services
The Mechanical Engineer will provide engineering support for the following development programs.
Garda Evaluation Board Development
Support the mechanical development of the Garda Evaluation Board, including but not limited to:
- Review PCB assembly (PCBA) layouts to identify and resolve mechanical interferences.
- Perform airflow and thermal simulations to optimize cooling and temperature management of optical modules.
- Develop fabrication drawings and manufacturing files for sheet metal enclosures.
- Generate PCB mechanical exchange files (EMN/EMP) for the ECAD team, including component keep-out zones, height restrictions, and mechanical constraints.
- Collaborate with manufacturing partners and suppliers to support Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA).
- Support prototype builds, assembly activities, and engineering validation.
Garda Optical Plug Development
Provide mechanical engineering support for the development of the Garda Optical Plug, including:
- Assist with the design and development of the OSFP mechanical assembly concept.
- Generate PCB mechanical interface files (EMN/EMP) with component keep-out regions and mechanical constraints.
- Review PCB component placement to identify mechanical interference risks.
- Work closely with suppliers to improve manufacturability and assembly processes through DFM/DFA reviews.
- Perform detailed tolerance stack-up analysis using Monte Carlo simulation techniques to validate design robustness and manufacturing tolerances.
Nirvana Test Board Development
Support the mechanical design and enhancement of the Nirvana Test Board by:
- Modifying the existing enclosure and housing to accommodate updated DSP component height requirements.
- Performing tolerance stack-up analysis using Monte Carlo methodologies.
- Reviewing PCB layouts for mechanical interference and recommending design improvements.
General Responsibilities
The consultant will also:
- Participate in design reviews and engineering meetings.
- Collaborate with Mechanical, Electrical, Optical, Manufacturing, and PCB Design teams.
- Support prototype development, engineering builds, and design verification activities.
- Prepare technical documentation, engineering reports, and design recommendations as required.
- Provide regular project status updates and identify technical risks with proposed mitigation plans.
- Ensure all engineering work complies with applicable quality, manufacturing, and engineering standards.
Deliverables
The consultant will deliver, as applicable:
- Mechanical design recommendations.
- Thermal and airflow simulation results.
- Sheet metal fabrication drawings and manufacturing files.
- PCB mechanical exchange files (EMN/EMP).
- Tolerance analysis reports.
- DFM/DFA review findings.
- Engineering documentation supporting prototype builds and product development.
