Our client, a leading Canadian financial institution, is seeking a Senior Network Security Specialist to join its Network & Security Services team.

This role is ideal for a senior infrastructure and network security professional with deep enterprise experience supporting complex Cisco networking environments, Check Point firewalls, network security operations, and continuous security improvements.

The successful consultant will play a key role in maintaining and enhancing enterprise network security while supporting operational excellence, evergreening initiatives, automation, and incident response.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Assistant Director, Network & Security Services, you will:

• Provide operational support for enterprise network security infrastructure
• Maintain and enhance network security controls and configurations
• Troubleshoot complex network and security issues across enterprise environments
• Diagnose and mitigate security risks and vulnerabilities
• Participate in production deployments, validation testing, disaster recovery, and failover exercises
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and infrastructure simplification
• Implement upgrades and changes supporting operational stability and evolving business requirements
• Monitor security events, alerts, and logs while assisting with incident response activities
• Collaborate with internal technical teams to ensure compliance with enterprise security standards
• Develop and implement automation solutions to improve operational efficiency
• Support ongoing network security initiatives and related technical deliverables

Required Qualifications

• University degree or College diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related discipline
• Minimum 5 years of recent enterprise experience in:
  • Network Operations
  • Network Security
  • Enterprise troubleshooting
  • Network integration
• Minimum 5 years working with:
  • Cisco Switching
  • Cisco Routing
  • Check Point Firewalls
  • Check Point Security Management
• Strong experience supporting enterprise IT Operations including:
  • Monitoring
  • Incident response
  • Vulnerability remediation
  • Network security event management
• Experience supporting CI/CD environments
• Experience designing or supporting highly available service-oriented architectures
• Experience implementing and supporting enterprise network security controls including:
  • Firewalls
  • Network segmentation
  • Secure network configurations
• Experience working within Agile/SCRUM environments

Work Arrangement

• Preferred Hybrid:
  • 8 onsite days per month in Ottawa
• Fully Remote within Canada may be considered
• Full-time (37.5 hours/week)

Mandatory Requirements

Candidates must:

• Be eligible to obtain Bank of Canada Secret Security Clearance
• Have resided in Canada for a minimum of 5 years
• Possess excellent communication skills
• Be able to work independently within a collaborative enterprise environment

Candidates must also have:

• Windows 11 laptop or desktop capable of connecting through Azure Virtual Desktop
• Smartphone capable of running Microsoft Authenticator
