Our client is seeking an experienced Unix/Linux Administrator to support enterprise infrastructure environments, including Solaris 11 and Red Hat Linux 8/9. The successful consultant will provide operating system administration, automation, maintenance, patching, hardening, server builds, and operational support.

This role is hybrid, with a requirement to be onsite in Ottawa approximately 12 days per month. Remote candidates may be considered; however, candidates able to support the hybrid model will be preferred.

The consultant will also participate in an on-call rotation approximately every 5 weeks and must be available to support occasional after-hours work, including evenings or weekends for planned maintenance and operational activities.

Security Requirement:
Candidate must be eligible to obtain a Government Secret Clearance (must have resided in Canada for a minimum of 10 years).

Responsibilities:

• Support and administer Solaris 11 and Red Hat Linux 8/9 environments
• Perform operating system administration, maintenance, patching, and security hardening
• Support server installations, configuration, and performance tuning
• Manage Red Hat Linux environments using Satellite
• Develop and maintain Ansible playbooks to automate administrative tasks
• Support infrastructure automation using Ansible Automation Platform
• Create and maintain SOPs, build books, and operational documentation
• Support DevOps environments, including CI/CD pipelines
• Participate in scheduled on-call rotation and non-standard business hour support when required

Required Skills:

• Minimum 3+ years experience administering Red Hat Linux 8/9 environments using Satellite
• Minimum 3+ years experience supporting Solaris 11 environments
• Strong hands-on experience with Ansible Automation
• Unix/Linux system administration experience including:
  • Scripting
  • Packaging
  • Hardware support
  • System builds
  • OpsCenter
• Experience working within DevOps environments
• Experience supporting CI/CD (Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment) pipelines

Nice to Have:

• Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE)
• Red Hat Certified Specialist in Ansible Network Automation
• Red Hat OpenSCAP experience
• Previous financial services or government experience
• Existing Secret Clearance
