Our client is seeking an experienced VMware Virtual Infrastructure Specialist to support enterprise virtualization platforms, cloud infrastructure, automation, disaster recovery, and infrastructure modernization initiatives.

The preferred work arrangement is hybrid with approximately 12 onsite days per month in Ottawa. Fully remote candidates may be considered; however, hybrid availability is preferred.

The consultant will participate in an on-call rotation approximately every 4–6 weeks and must be available to support non-standard business hours, including evenings or weekends when required.

Responsibilities:

• Support, administer, and maintain VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF 5.x/9.x) environments
• Manage VMware technologies including:
  • vSphere
  • vSAN
  • Aria Suite
  • NSX
  • HCX
  • SDDC Manager
• Support Disaster Recovery solutions including:
  • vSphere Replication
  • VMware Live Site Recovery (LSR/SRM)
• Support and maintain Azure Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) environments
• Develop and support automation pipelines using Ansible Tower and Azure DevOps
• Perform platform monitoring, health checks, and environment validation
• Troubleshoot incidents and resolve infrastructure issues within SLA targets
• Execute configuration changes following change management processes
• Design and implement Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) solutions and automation workflows
• Identify automation opportunities to improve operational efficiency
• Perform upgrades, patching, lifecycle management, and capacity planning
• Support cybersecurity controls, compliance standards, audits, and reporting
• Maintain technical documentation, SOPs, operational procedures, and release notes
• Support disaster recovery planning, testing, and failover validation

Required Skills:

• Degree or diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field
• Minimum 5+ years experience supporting enterprise virtualization platforms:
  • VMware ecosystem
  • vSphere
  • VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF)
• Minimum 3+ years experience with:
  • Azure IaaS
  • Ansible Tower
  • Azure DevOps
• Strong virtual infrastructure administration experience
• Experience with Hyperconverged Infrastructure (HCI) environments
• Strong scripting experience:
  • PowerShell
  • Python
• Hands-on Infrastructure as Code (IaC) experience:
  • Ansible
  • Terraform
  • Azure
• Experience supporting large-scale 24/7 production environments
• Strong understanding of high availability, resiliency, and operational stability
