Our Ottawa based Financial client is looking for an experienced Windows Support Engineer to support critical enterprise infrastructure environments for a long term HYBRID contract. The successful consultant will provide operational support, maintenance, upgrades, automation, and continuous improvement across Windows Server platforms in a hybrid on-premise/cloud environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Support, maintain, deploy, and upgrade Windows Server environments (on-premise and cloud)
  • Provide Level 2 technical support for critical infrastructure platforms
  • Troubleshoot incidents and support application owners, developers, and technical teams
  • Manage requests and issues through ServiceNow ticketing processes
  • Perform Windows Server administration, maintenance, upgrades, and optimization
  • Develop automation solutions and support Infrastructure as Code (IaC) initiatives
  • Create and maintain SOPs, technical documentation, support guides, and root cause analysis reports
  • Recommend improvements to increase performance, reliability, and operational efficiency
  • Participate in after-hours support/on-call rotation as required

Required Skills:

  • 3+ years supporting critical applications in hybrid enterprise environments
  • Strong Windows Server administration experience (Windows Server 2016–2022)
  • Experience with:
    • Microsoft Group Policies (GPO)
    • Microsoft SCCM
    • Server patching, upgrades, and lifecycle management
    • Performance and capacity monitoring of critical servers
  • Hands-on Infrastructure as Code (IaC) experience using tools such as:
    • Ansible
    • Terraform
    • Azure automation tools
  • Strong scripting experience:
    • PowerShell
    • Python
    • Ansible Playbooks
  • Experience creating automation scripts and deploying orchestration solutions
  • Ability to support large-scale, multi-tier, highly secure production environments
  • Strong troubleshooting, ownership, and problem-resolution skills

Nice to Have:

  • Experience working within Change Management processes
  • Experience creating Visio diagrams, support documentation, and knowledge transfer materials
  • Financial services or highly regulated environment experience

Additional Information:

  • Full-time contract (37.5 hrs/week)
  • On-call support rotation required (approximately every 4–6 weeks)
  • Occasional overtime or after-hours work may be required
