BioTech Shift Leader

JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary/Objective
 

*Strongly Preferred experience in Chemical Synthesis and experience working in a Manufacturing environment 

The desired candidate must be able to apply her/his knowledge of BioPolymers to new challenges, working cross-functionally to drive project timelines and deliverables. 

He/she must have proven problem-solving skills, highly accurate work product, great attention to detail, excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced work environment.

The position will involve working with biopolymers as well as Fermentation process and techniques. Candidate must have chemical production and manufacturing experience. 

The Ideal Candidate will also have:

  • Demonstrated success in independently designing experiments, generating data, interpreting results, and documenting results;
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing;
  • Experience working on a research team.

Essential Functions

  1. Ensure effective employee relations. Provide employee coaching and development. Resolve employee issues through problem resolution.
  2. Balance quality, productivity, cost, safety and morale to achieve positive results in all areas. Work to continuously improve in all areas.
  3. Manage departmental performance measures, including visual controls and provides regular progress reports to manager.
  4. Provide leadership.
  5. Perform accident investigations.
  6. Maintain proper inventory levels.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 80 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Hours of work are 6:00 – 6:30 12 hours per day on a Continental schedule. Every other weekend work is required and extra hours as job duties demand.

Travel

No travel is expected for this position.

Required Education and Experience

B.S. degree or equivalent experience.

  1. 3-5 years of experience in a production environment.

Preferred Education and Experience

  1. Bachelor’s degree -Biology-Chemistry.
  2. 5-8 years of experience in a fermentation/chemical production environment. (Strongly preferred)
  3. Previous quality management experience.
  4. Chemical production and Manufacturing experience (Required)
