Organizational Design Specialist

DESCRIPTION OF WORK/EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS
Under the general direction of the Senior Manager, Talent Acquisition and Workforce Management, and in partnership with the Business Leads, the Organizational Design Specialist will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
- Assist the Project Business Leads with organizational design of roles and positions required to support the project roles as well as the operational positions after go-live.
- Create and evaluate new job descriptions and align them within the job matrix prior to the evaluation process e.g., Support Model.
- Facilitate the process of new job position creation to support People Leaders.
- Review and amend Job Fact Sheets (JFS) and Position Description Forms (PDF) of impacted employees, as required.
- Check the consistency of job descriptions with internal policies and procedures.
- Apply sound organizational design methods and advise on complex HR realignments involving aspects of change management and/or organizational development.
- Responsible for producing and monitoring detailed Human Resource Planning reports including quarterly forecasting.
- Investigate external salary competitiveness against market and making recommendations to HR management for best practice innovation and improvements, within the institutions compensation guidelines, to ensure the optimal value of project and operational positions.
- Work collaboratively with HR colleagues to identify creative solutions and resolve organizational design/job evaluation related issues
The Organizational Design Specialist should have the following experience and qualifications:
- Four (4) year degree Human Resources (or a directly related discipline).
- Minimum of four (4) years of related experience in a senior role in organizational design/development with emphasis on ensuring proper structures to support business requirements.
- Related professional designation such as Canadian Compensation Professional (CCP), Change Management (e.g., Prosci), Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) or Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP).
- Experience in job evaluation and classification, preferably within an educational organization and in a unionized environment.
- Previous experience in interpreting legislation, collective agreements and other applicable policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of job evaluation methodologies, programs and practices.
- Knowledge of organizational design concepts and principles.
- Ability to communicate and negotiate (when needed) effectively with a variety of stakeholders.
- Excellent analytical, organizational and records management skills.
- Ability to set priorities and work to deadlines.
- Must possess tact, diplomacy and sensitivity and a respect for confidentiality.
